The case
Ayvalık, Türkiye, November 2009. On the last night of pressing before the holiday, a master miller is said to have gone down to check his boat in a storm. At dawn he is found in the sea beside his jetty. An accident, the file said. Seventeen years later, workmen draining the mill’s old weighbridge pit find the steel tin he never let out of his sight, still locked. Read the statements, the tickets and the tape, and decide what really happened that night.
What you have to decide
When you are ready, you cast one vote in five parts. It cannot be changed once it is locked.
- Who killed the miller, if anyone did.
- How it was done.
- Why it was done.
- The period during which the guilty person’s own account is false.
- The two exhibits that prove it best.
