The case
“If I had stayed at my desk, he would be alive.” In 2026 a former night porter dies in a care home near Zamora, leaving a letter about a Madrid hostal and a night twenty-four years before. In April 2002 the theatre wigmaker who lived and worked in the hostal’s attic was found dead among his emptied drawers, two days before a van was due to take his workshop to Zaragoza. The police looked for a burglar from the rooftops. The file is open again.
What you have to decide
When you are ready, you cast one vote in five parts. It cannot be changed once it is locked.
- Who killed the wigmaker in his attic.
- How it was done.
- Why it was done.
- The period during which the guilty person’s own account is false.
- The two exhibits that prove it best.
